| What is a ‘culture of safety’? |
| One description of a culture of safety means moving beyond a culture of blame to one of ‘safety mindfulness’. This means that people become aware of safety as something to be sought and worked for continuously, not simply when something goes wrong. Accompanying this should be attempts by those senior in the organisation to act on latent problems and create an environment where people are not blamed for making mistakes, but instead encouraged to report safety concerns and unsafe practice. |
